ŠKODA Octavia
ŠKODA Octavia
After eight years of success, the second generation Octavia is making way for the third generation, a car that pushes the boundaries of technology, safety, space and efficiency like no ŠKODA before it. More spacious and luxurious than its predecessor, new Octavia is full of clever technology to provide the most comfortable and dynamic driving experience yet and all this is packaged elegantly into the timeless angles and lines showcasing ŠKODA’s new design language. With strong lines and sharp angles, the new Octavia’s design promises to remain timeless and elegant in years to come. Whilst the broad fascia brings a strong road presence, the streamlined coupe lines of the rear hide the cavernous space within. Proudly wearing ŠKODA’s new black and chrome logo, the interplay of light and darkness continues throughout the exterior of the car. The strong, dynamic shoulder line is complimented by the unique flourish at the base of the window line, creating the shape of an aeroplane tail fin which hints towards the advanced technology found inside.
The ŠKODA Octavia makes its mark in its segment in every possible way. The teams from design, development and production have left nothing to chance. Concentration on the essentials has been the motto: to a large extent, the vehicle does without decorative elements. The Octavia does not need any “gimmicks”. Instead, it displays its value through attractive shapes, precision and elegance in its appearance.
The ample room available in the interior and luggage compartment is a major feature of ŠKODA cars. The Octavia is no exception. With plenty of legroom in the rear, the car allows to travel in comfort even on long journeys. A simple pull of a handle can expand the standard 590-litre luggage compartment to an incredible 1,580 litres. Add the payload of 625 kg (incl. 75 kg for driver) to Octavia‘s virtues and there is no doubt this car is ready for heavy-duty use by all means.
The Octavia is able to carry up to five people with ease. With an interior width of 1,449 mm and plenty of rear legroom, the car allows four adults to travel in comfort even on long journeys.
The large optional panoramic tilt/slide sunroof with solar shade makes for lots of daylight in the interior. The glass is tinted black, so only a comfortable amount of light and heat is allowed to enter the vehicle.
Steering wheel in the Octavia is a command center in your hands: pick your favourite song, make that important phone call or browse through onboard computer. Moreover, you can use paddles to manually shift gears on DSG automatic gearbox.
There are many ways the Octavia can make your journeys more entertaining. You can choose from a vast range of new-generation radios and multimedia navigations. Last but not least - the offer is topped by 570W Sound System Canton.
The Elegance interior with beige upholstery and black/beige dashboard has numerous chrome features - trim on the 4-spoke steering wheel, vent frames etc.
A major emphasis is placed on ergonomics. All controls are distributed intuitively and are immediately to hand.
Drivetrain with 5th-generation Haldex four-wheel drive system deals with slightest change under Octavia‘s wheels within milliseconds. Under normal conditions, the car is like regular front-wheeler. Let there be snow, mud or ice and it turns into a 4x4 without you noticing it.
The ŠKODA Octavia offers numerous comfort features hitherto available only in higher-segment vehicles. In this context, use of new technologies is no end in itself, but seeks to provide tangible added value to customers. This means no useless gimmicks are offered, instead making room for truly practical, technology that makes mobility safer and more comfortable for people.
Boarding Spots, the entry area illumination, are integrated in rearview mirrors, and manage to safely board or exit the ŠKODA Octavia even when outside it is pitch dark.
Manually operated sunblind will be appreciated when you travel with the sun in your back. It is integrated into the parcel shelf as a part of optional Sun&Pack. The pack features also a storage net under the parcel shelf.
Automatic folding means that when continually pressing the “lock the car” button on the remote control the rearview mirrors fold automatically. You can also fold the mirrors from car’s cabin, which comes handy in car wash.
The driver just pulls the door handle (or pushes the boot button) and the vehicle will unlock automatically. Starting the car is done via the push of a button, located to the right of the steering column.
An optional 230 V socket is located on the back of the Jumbo Box. It can be used to connect devices requiring power of up to 150 W (or 300 W over shorter intervals), such as the power cord of a laptop or DVD player, or a mobile phone or battery charger.
The electronically controlled Climatronic climate control lets you enjoy the comfort of automatically maintained temperature in the car. The Climatronic has two zones, so driver and passenger can set their own temperatures. Humidity sensor reduces windshield fogging and increases the climate comfort.
The Octavia‘s set of parking assistants will be appreciated in particular by drivers who have trouble estimating distances, or just want to save themselves the hassle. When using the parking assistant during parking manoeuvres, all they will have to do is gently accelerate or brake, and the car will take care of the steering.
Providing you with comfort and orientation during a parking procedure, the Rear view Camera uses a camera located on the 5th door handle. Combined with ŠKODA infotainment radios and navigations with touchscreen, the system uses their displays to show the space behind the car and to indicate the driving line, based on the vehicle width.
The Automatic Parking Assistant in the Octavia is paired with 12 parking sensors: 4 in the front, 4 in the rear, and 4 on both sides.
So-called “OPS 360” warns of the potential risk of collision with obstacles during parking. The system‘s prediction is based on data from 12 ultrasound sensors, the driving parameters and the steering wheel angle.
